I’ve never done any sport/martial art before. Would learning Capoeira be too difficult for me?
Although considerable fitness level does help at the onset, we have students who started with nothing and gained stamina, flexibility, toning and overall fitness after several months of regular training. Capoeira helps you develop a mindset of overcoming your own limitations and it does build up your sense of self-confidence when you gain agility and learn to work within your own space while respecting others’.
I am overweight/middle-aged/too old for most sports, do you think I can still learn capoeira?
Why not? As long as you have no serious injuries. Your biggest enemy is your mind. Nothing is impossible. Discipline and perseverance will get you somewhere. We are proud of the fact that we have students in their forties as well. It’s up to you. Nobody can stop you once you think you can do it.
Can I just drop by for a class?
Yup. Look under fees/classes for more details.
Can I just come by and observe a class?
Only once. If you don’t plan to join, we don’t want you taking up the space we need for training.
Do I need to email you to tell you that I will be dropping by?
Nope. However, you need to arrive ten or fifteen minutes before class so you can pay for the class, change into your workout attire.
How much are the classes?
Check under fees.
Where are your classes held?
Look under open classes.
As a first-timer/beginner, can I join an open class because I can’t make it to the beginners’ class on Thursday?
Sure. The instructor will cater to your level.
What do I wear for class?
T-shirt/tank top and long track pants will do. Bring a towel and a full bottle of water.
Can I buy the uniform?
Only when you are serious about joining our school. Don’t worry, we will approach you.
I am from another school. I wish to join Bantus. What do I do?
Have the courtesy to inform your instructor/mestre by emailing him/her and bcc. to [email protected]. This is the only prerequisite Mestre Pintor requires of students from other capoeira schools who are joining Bantus. And please, don’t wear your ex-school uniform to our class after that. Buy ours.
Is your Capoeira school different from others? And how so?
Yes. Come and see for yourself. Ask our students. They are our best walking advertisements.
