1. Roda this Saturday (3 November 2007) at UWCSEA 1pm. Let’s meet at 12.30pm (give yourself time to warm up).
Wear your abada/malha and school t-shirt.
2. There will be class on Deepavali (Thursday 8 November 2007).
3. Monday afternoon classes will be discontinued (w.e.f. 1 Nov 2007).
4. Saturday kids’ class as usual. Parents, please remember to pay fees for November (and settle any outstanding fees for Oct).
Every budding capoeirista should learn to play and sing with the instruments that accompany the capoeira roda.
Our music class will resume next Tuesday 7pm-8pm @ Dance On Us studio (see details under Classes/music)

Adults, teens and newcomers are welcome.

If you can only make it for Monday afternoon classes, casual rates apply: (pay for the month by the 1st Monday of that month)
Adults: $20 per class ($20 x 4 classes = $80)
Students/NSF: $15 per class ($15 x 4 classes = $60)
NB: Newcomers must pay $20 (a one-time registration fee) by your 1st lesson.

Our capoeira kids are learning to do backflips.

Raul is demonstrating an armada while Noam ducks in anticipation, keeping his eyes trained on Raul.
The young ones love to sing Capoeira songs in Portuguese while clapping their hands in time! It’s amazing how fast they pick up the songs in a heartbeat and sing them back to you word by word by the next lesson! And their top favourites? Paraná é…Paraná é…Paraná followed by la la é, la la é, la la é la la é la… and er, zum zum zum capoeira mata um…


They also enjoy making joyful noises with the pandeiro.

Since our school will be performing at the Dance Potpourri tomorrow (Sunday 4 June), there won’t be any classes in the afternoon. Sunday classes will resume next week.
If you have never done capoeira before but are interested in trying out a class, we suggest you join our new beginners’ class starting this Thursday 1st June. Wear track bottoms and a t-shirt or tank top. Bring a towel and a full bottle of water. Be prepared to sweat and have fun!
